Welcoming Our New Campus Director:
Miami Barber Institute Appoints Sergio Wong

At Miami Barber Institute, we are committed to building a strong academic and community environment where students can grow, excel, and prepare for successful careers in the barbering profession. As part of our continued growth and dedication to student support, we are proud to share an important update with our community.

We are excited to announce the appointment of Sergio Wong as Campus Director of Miami Barber Institute. This addition strengthens our leadership team at a time when we are expanding programs, enhancing student services, and deepening our involvement in the Greater Miami area.

A Leader with Experience and Purpose

Sergio Wong brings more than twenty years of experience in higher education, with a background that spans admissions, financial aid, academic operations, and student support. His leadership style reflects mentorship, collaboration, and a focus on helping teams and students thrive. Throughout his career, he has helped institutions build strong structures, improve communication, and elevate the student experience.

His leadership aligns seamlessly with our mission to prepare students for licensure and long term success in the barbering industry. As an accredited institution offering state-approved Barber and Restricted Barber programs, we recognize the importance of guiding students through every stage of their journey. Mr. Wong’s experience will support our continued focus on quality, structure, and accessible education.

“Sergio brings the kind of leadership that aligns with our mission and the community we serve,” shared Luis Castillo, President and Co Owner of Miami Barber Institute. “He understands the importance of structure, professionalism, and student support in career and technical education. His experience and values make him an excellent addition to our institution as we continue growing and creating new opportunities for our students.”

Strengthening Student Support and Academic Excellence

In his role as Campus Director, Mr. Wong will oversee the daily operations that support our academic programs and student services. This includes coordinating instructors, implementing academic processes, reinforcing student support systems, and ensuring that every learner receives the guidance needed to progress confidently from enrollment to licensure.

When reflecting on his new role, Mr. Wong shared, “What I found most compelling about Miami Barber Institute is its mission and the sincerity behind it. This is a school that understands the impact of skilled trades education and the responsibility that comes with it. I am proud to join a team so committed to helping students build strong, meaningful careers, and I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of the institute.”

Serving a Diverse Student Community

As a school rooted in the Greater Miami community, we continue to welcome a diverse range of students, including working adults seeking a new professional path, first generation college students, recent high school graduates, and Veterans using educational benefits. Our Barber and Restricted Barber programs can be completed fully in person or through a flexible hybrid format that combines online coursework with hands on practical training.

We also provide bilingual instruction, Saturday class options, fully equipped barber labs, and a complete professional toolkit included at enrollment. These resources support our commitment to making barber education accessible, practical, and aligned with real career pathways.

“As Miami Barber Institute continues to expand, strong leadership is essential to ensure our students and faculty receive the support they need,” added Mr. Castillo. “Sergio’s guidance will help us continue building an institution rooted in opportunity, professionalism, and long term community impact.”

Focused on Community and Career Success

Our mission goes beyond classroom instruction. Miami Barber Institute incorporates technical skill development with professionalism, customer service, and entrepreneurship. We actively engage with the community through free haircut events, local partnerships, and ongoing outreach efforts that allow students to practice their skills while serving others.

The appointment of Sergio Wong reflects our ongoing commitment to investing in leadership that supports student success and enhances the learning experience for our entire community.
