overview
Understanding your financial aid options is the first step toward financing your education. Miami Barber Institute offers a variety of financial aid programs to help students manage their costs effectively.
Federal Financial Aid
The federal government provides financial aid through several programs to support students in need. You must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to access these funds. Based on the information you provide, you may be eligible for:
- Pell Grants: These need-based grants do not require repayment and are awarded to undergraduate students. The amount you receive depends on your financial need, attendance cost, and enrollment status.
- Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG): If you demonstrate exceptional financial need, you may qualify for this grant, which the financial aid office at MBI awards.
- Federal Direct Loans: These low-interest loans are available to undergraduate and graduate students. Repayment begins six months after you graduate, leave school, or drop below half-time enrollment. Loans can be subsidized (the government pays the interest while you’re in school) or unsubsidized (you are responsible for the interest).
- Federal Work-Study: This program allows you to earn money while attending school. Jobs are typically on-campus and provide flexible hours to fit your class schedule.
State Aid Programs
In addition to federal aid, Florida residents may be eligible for state-specific financial aid programs. Some options include:
- Florida Student Assistance Grant (FSAG): This need-based grant is designed to assist Florida residents attending college. The grant amount varies based on funding and your financial need.
- Bright Futures Scholarship Program: This merit-based scholarship program rewards Florida high school graduates for their academic achievements. Eligibility is based on GPA, standardized test scores, and community service hours.
- Other State Scholarships and Grants: Check with the Florida Department of Educatio’s website for additional state-specific programs you may qualify for.
Institutional Aid
Miami Barber Institute is proud to offer its own scholarships and financial aid options, including:
- MBI Economic Hardship Scholarship: The MBI Economic Hardship Scholarship is available for students demonstrating financial need or exceptional talent in the barbering field. This scholarship has its own eligibility criteria and application process.
- Payment Plans: To help students manage tuition costs, we offer flexible payment plans that allow you to pay your tuition in installments rather than a lump sum.
